It’s believed that our body contains energy
(“Chi” in Chinese) that flows through channels and different areas. These channels unite to form the reflex
points on the feet and hands. This hand
and foot massage help to restore body to its equilibrium state.

It starts with a foot bath.
Follows by deep massage to the feet with long
stroke movements to relax and restore blood circulation.
Use of Essential Oils
Essential oils are the fragrant essences from flowers,
barks, leaves, fruits and roots obtained by various ways of extraction which is
in a highly concentrated form. It is
believed that each essential oil has its own therapeutic properties. However, you should always dilute it with
base oil before use.
Common Use of Essential Oils
- Massage
Dilute your choice of essential oil in a base massage oil to a
concentration of between 1 to 3 percent.
- Compresses
Add 5 to 10 drops of essential oil to a small bowl of warm water. Soak a piece of cotton pad in the water,
then lay the pad over your body and keep the area warm.
- Baths
Add 5 to 10 drops of essential oil to a warm bath.
- Inhalations
Add 5 to 8 drops of essential oil to a bowl of steaming water. Place a towel over your head and the
bowl and inhale the vapour for a few minutes. Alternatively, add 3 to 4 drops of
essential oil to a handkerchief and hold it near the nose and inhale.

- Oil
burner – add a few drops of essential oil to water on the plate.
List of Essential Oils and their functions
Anise, Star
This essential oil has a sweet and fresh smell. It’s applied for cramping, digestive problems
and for spasmodic coughs. It has a
relatively high toxicity so prolong use is not recommended.
Basil
This sweet herb has a calming effect which is ideal for
tired body. It also helps insomnia. Dilute well before use or it may irritate
sensitive skin. Do not use during
pregnancy.
Bay Laurel
This essential oil is good for relieving colds, flu, sore
throats and viral infections. It also
help to relieve aches and pains and as a tonic for the digestive system.
Clove
Clove oil is pain relieving and antiseptic although it may
irritate the skin so it must be well diluted.
Dill
As the main ingredient of gripe water, dill oil is famous
for treating digestive problems, flatulence and colic in children.
Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus essential oil is both refreshing and warming and
antiseptic. It’s useful in steam
inhalations to relieve cold symptoms and coughs.
Lavender
This popular essential oil suits all skin conditions,
especially dry skin. It also relieves
headaches, help insomnia and antiseptic for wounds, bites and dermatitis.
Lemon Oil
Lively, refreshing, cooling, and antiseptic, this essential
oil can be used to treat boils, greasy skin, herpes and bites.
Lemon grass
Lemon grass is widely used in insect repellent. It is also anti-bacterial so it’s useful for
treating skin problems and acne.
Marjoram
This essential oil is useful for relieving pains and aches
including menstrual pain. Spanish marjoram and sweet marjoram are the two
commonly used ones.
Peppermint
Peppermint is refreshing and stimulating. It is also used to treat digestive problems,
nausea and migraine.
Rose
Rose oil is suitable for sensitive skin including dry and
inflamed skin types. It is cooling and soothing which is ideal for relieving
stress and menstrual problems.
Tea Tree
Tea tree oil is germicidal and anti-fungal which makes it an
excellent treatment to colds, flu, herpes, thrush, warts and many skin
infestion.
Ylang Ylang
Originated from East Africa, this essential oil is highly relaxing and is
known for its use on high blood pressure.
